Burghsluis Oostbout, like Burghsluis West, is a dive site with lots of North Sea life and species special to the Oosterschelde. Admittedly, the unique location of this site also causes strong currents and limited visibility. Dive from the stairs in a south-westerly direction to the tip of the pier for the most beautiful route. Dive over the wall of stones and oyster beds teeming with life, culminating in a sandy bottom where you'll encounter silt anemones and carnations. Dive here with enough experience at low tide and always bring a strong dive light.
Particulars
Park in Burghsluis Oostbout at the large unpaved car space. Follow the P sign for this. There are stairs you can use to enter the water.
Warnings
Dive at Burghsluis Oostbout with sufficient diving experience. Don't dive here in south winds stronger than wind force 4. Don't dive in or near the harbor. Short reveral with strong currents. Only dive at low tide. High-tide diving is strongly discouraged. Watch out for fishing lines. Fairway, don't make a free ascent. Long walking distance.
