HAARRIJNSEPLAS STRAND
Nederland, Utrecht
The Haarrijnseplas Strand is really a dive site for around the corner. Not a top location, but a dive spot on the rise in your region. Dives are already being made here from time to time, but the Haarrijnseplas has yet to develop into a real fun dive site. For now it's a great place to practice your skills or to just get your equipment wet. Diving is only allowed in the eastern part, outside the swimming area.
Particulars
Enter the Haarrijnseplas Strand fifty meters northeast of the swimming area and swim out for about sixty meters to descend. The site looks a bit bare at first. Dive over the sandy bottom with its small hills and mussel-covered tree stumps. Stay shallow to take advantage of the good visibility. Marine life is limited because there are few hiding places at this time. However, with some luck you may spot an eel, a large pike or a school of perch.
Warnings
Diving in the Haarrijnseplas is allowed in the eastern excavation, outside the swimming area. This is not known to all law enforcers and can lead to discussion. Good visibility up to 12 meters.
