HET BUITENVELD
Nederland, Noord Holland
Dive site Buitenveld is always under the great influence of the North Sea. This is caused by its location on Texel, near the Marsdiep. Expect encounters with cod, sea bass and special nudibranches among the beautifully overgrown rock heaps. Buitenveld is a difficult dive site with complex factors, such as a short reversal, an unmarked channel and strong, fluctuating currents.
Particulars
Drive into the NIOZ-port area past the 'No Entry' sign. The entrance is tolerated. Now pass the fence (close fence behind you), keep to the left and follow the dike to the left. Enter the water and follow the diving route on the map. Search the overgrown rocks for brick anemones, sea antlers and much more small marine life.
Warnings
Diving at Het Buitenveld is only possible under calm weather conditions and with calm sea. Only experienced divers. Don't dive near port. Don't make free ascents. Very strong and varied currents. Short reversal. Poor visibility during low tide, heavy rainfall and strong (south) easterly winds. Close the fence. Park without obstructing traffic.
