Oranjeplaat is a shallow dive site in 't Veerse Meer. The marine life here is somewhat less exuberant than at other locations in the Veerse Meer, but small life is plentiful. You dive close to a fairway buoy that is nicely overgrown with mussels. There is also something to see on the sandy bottom. Everywhere are oyster beds full of red seaweed and colony-forming sea squirts in orange and pink. Various species of crabs and gobies also live here, as well as shrimp, pipefish and snails. The maximum dive depth in Orange Plate is 5 meters. This makes this dive site ideal for unexperienced divers.
Particulars
Oranjeplaat is accessible both as a shore dive and by boat. For a shore dive, park in the grass and enter the water directly opposite the fairway buoy.
Warnings
Preferably dive at Oranjeplaat outside the boating season, when pleasure boats are at a standstill. Fairway, don't make free ascents. Beware of surfers.
