PUT MIDDELWAARD
Nederland, Utrecht
Put Middelwaard is a dive site with large clay walls and a huge plant forest. This makes Middelwaard a dive site where you dive differently than in other ponds. Dive above the plants to spot fish or sink below the plant line (8 meters) to get a better view of the unique bottom of walls, overhangs and clay block formations. The west and south sides of Put Middelwaard are beautiful diving areas. The north and east side (swimming area) have less to offer.
Particulars
Enter the water of Put Middelwaard via the concrete slabs. Be careful, they can be slippery. The hard sandy bottom before the entrance gradually descends to a depth of about 4 meters. After that it becomes steeper and the plant growth increases. Eventually you end up in a huge forest of plants. You can stay above the plants or dive in between them in search of pike, perch, sails or bream.
Warnings
Diving in Put Middelwaard is prohibited. Exemption is granted for events and club dives. Put Middelwaard is due to the many plants and clay formations somewhat dark. Bring a diving lamp. Concrete slabs at entry point can be slippery.
