Difficult dive site

Putti's Place is a beautiful dive site with a heavily vegetated, sloping bottom, great biodiversity and a hard-to-identify wreck. The site is also known for its many old dyke remnants. At Putti's Place, several headlands, dyke bodies and houses disappeared underwater in 1856 and 1945. You can still find the remnants all over the bottom. The deep well northeast of the boardwalk is uninteresting. In May and June, cuttlefish are regularly seen in Putti's Place. Putti's Place is named after the Belgian diver Roger Puttaert, who made many archaeological finds here.

Particulars

Park at Putti's Place near Slurfweg, about 200 meters from the entry point. From there, you walk along a narrow path and a dike to a pier where you enter the water.

Warnings

Don't dive at Putti's Place during high tide or strong winds. The current at the shore is then very strong and unpredictable. Only navigate by compass at Putti's Place. The bottom is treacherous. Poor visibility in northeast winds stronger than wind force 4. Difficult entry with basalt blocks. Bring a rope if necessary.
