TRAMHAVEN
Nederland, Zuid Holland
Tramhaven is a dive site in South Holland where you can do exploration dives. In 2019, the sluices of the Haringvliet dam were partially opened. Scientists hope that the herring and trout that once lived here will return. See what new species you encounter. For now, you'll see mostly plants, oysters and freshwater fish such as perch and roach. As the water gets saltier, biodiversity may increase. Tramhaven is named after the historic tram line that used to run here.
Particulars
The water at Tramhaven is entered from a breakwater. Park at the water's edge. Then start the long walk to the entry point.
Warnings
Visibility in Tramhaven is limited. Loose stones at entry point. Long walking distance from car park. Fast-moving pleasure boats. Stay away from the harbor. Place a clearly visible dive flag on the shore. Use a surface buoy. Don't make free ascents. Water sportsmen are not yet used to divers in the Haringvliet.
