ZEGERPLAS BOOTHILL
Nederland, Zuid Holland
Zegerplas Boothill is a dive site with two car wrecks, a headland and a slowly sloping wall. The sandy bottom of the wall is inhabited by perch, eels, chinese mitten crabs and pike. The wall is quite long and slopes very slowly northward. Scour the sandy bottom for marine life. Do you spot a chinese mitten crab? Don't stick out your finger! Dive up to the headland, explore there too, and then turn around. The south side of Zegerplas Boothill is less interesting. You'll end up on a bare sandy bottom.
Particulars
Zegerplas Boothill is located in the Zegerplas between the dive sites T-Steiger and Natuurpark Zegersloot. The water can be entered from the beach in front of the surf school. There is a bench and a ledge where you can gear up. The bottom starts shallow and then slopes fairly quickly to 7 meters. This is where the wall begins. One of the car wrecks can be found front of the entry at 5 meters. The other one lies deeper, at 15 meter. It's marked by a buoy. They are practice objects of the Fire Department.
Warnings
Dive at Zegerplas Boothill preferably when the surf club is not active, or use a surface buoy. Don't dive in the immediate vicinity of the water ski slope. Always bring a dive light.
