The Akitsushima is a unique wreck in Coron Bay in the Phillipines. This Japanese seaplane mother ship sank in 1944 and lies on its side at depths between 22 and 38 meters. The large crane is the most iconic part of this wreck. The crane was used to hoist seaplanes aboard. The Akitsushima attracts many large fish, suchs as barracudas, jacks and groupers. Experienced wreck divers only.

Particulars

The Akitsushima is accessible by boat. Start your dive at the bow and slowly work towards the mast and iconic crane for the best experience.

Warnings

Currents at the Akitsushima can be strong and unpredictable, especially around the mast and crane. Experienced wreck divers only. Bring a dive light and a reel. Use Nitrox to extend your bottom time.
