ABU KAFAN
Egypte
Abu Kafan is probably the best dive site in Safaga. It's a 300 meter long reef, with a plateau in the north and south. Makes drift dives here, where you let yourself be dropped off at the west side of the reef. Or make a super steep wall dive, with nothing but black corals and large gorgonia's around you. You will regularly spot barracudas, reef sharks and sometimes even hammerhead sharks. Abu Kafan means 'Father of the Deep'.
Particulars
Descend from Abu Kafan via the anchor line and go in search of life. Moray eels and groupers hide in the many holes of the reef.
Warnings
Abu Kafan can be a bit rough. Beware of strong currents and high waves on the north and northeast side.
