DE TETJES 65
Nederland, Zeeland
Dive site De Tetjes, also known as Nieuwe Sluis, is the perfect location for deep dives due to the dens vegetation at great depths. Basalt blocks are interspersed with sandy bottoms, where whelks and flatfish hide. Nieuwe sluis De Tetjes is also home to large fish species, such as grey mullet and sea bass. The site is also known for its cuttlefish, sepiola and squit in spring time. Nieuwe Sluis is formed by two breakwaters with a sluice in between. Preferably dive at low tide.
Particulars
De Tetjes is entered from a small beach. Now dive across the sandy bottoms and reefs in the shallows parts from one breakwater to the other and back. If you want to explore the depths, dive straight ahead in line with the left breakwater. You'll reach 40 meters over a beautifully vegetated bottom.
Warnings
The current at The Tetjes is influenced by two dams and can therefore be treacherous. Make sure the current doesn't take you east of the two dams at low tide. You'll end up on a silt bottom which makes it difficult to reach the shore.
