CARGO SHIP CAMADAN

Malta

/ 3

The Turkish ship MV Camadan is located at a depth of about 100 meters. This makes the MV Camadan a dive site suitable for technical divers only. There is relatively little diving on the wreck. The MV Camadan ran into trouble on March 12, 2002. The ship, carrying fertilizer and 12 crew members, sent out an SOS message. The Maltese military confirmed at 6:30 a.m. that the ship was taking on water in rough seas and sounded the alarm. The U.S. cruiser USS Vella Gulf and the Dutch tug Smit Wijs Typhoon, both en route to Malta, assisted in rescuing the crew.
