The HMS St Angelo was a tugboat used as a harbour transport for Royal Navy Officers carrying personnel from Fort St Angelo to other destinations. During the war it also served as a rescue vessel and then as a minesweeper untill it hit a mine and sunk. It now lays 1 mile off the Grand Harbour shore at a depth of 54 meters.

Particulars

HMS St Angelo was sunk on 30 May at 1415 hrs with the loss of four of her crew. The 150 ton auxiliary tug was involved in a minesweeping operation about ¾ mile off the entrance to Grand Harbour when she struck a mine.
