Pontao 16 is located in the Azores on the east coast of the island of Faial. You can only dive around the wreck, penetration is impossible. It's an easy dive. Nevertheless, because of the depth, considerable diving experience is recommended if you want to dive here. The wreck lies between 21 and 26 meters.
Particulars
Pontao can be reached in ten minutes from the port of Horta. The wreck is 40 meters long and 17 meters wide. The ship was deliberately sunk in 2003 for diving. On the wreck you see sponges and algae and numerous Moroccan white sea breams (Diplodus sargus). Large schools of grey triggerfish are also regularly seen around the wreck.
Warnings
Only experienced divers. Dive wreck Pontao is lies deeper than 20 meters.
