Particulars

Park next to the road and enter the Vonkerplas from the beach. The Vonkerplas will quickly get deeper at this place so be careful when entering the water. Dive in southwest direction (left). The vegetation in this part of the excavation is limited, but you will come across some nice peat walls. There are some objects in the water such as a large steel cable that runs from the shore into the water and a small wreck. The bottom is rich in mussels that attract small fish and crabs, but there is much more to be seen. Everything that lives in the river Waal can be found here as wel. Anglers sometimes even catch salmon and trout.

Warnings

The Vonkerplas is made less deep with silt from the port of Rotterdam that is covered with plastic and sand. Bathing have been prohibition for some time. Scottish Highlanders walk around the Vonkerplas. No groups. Varying visibility. Rapidly sloping botto
