The Haringvlietweg dive site is nice for an exploration dive in the Zuid-Holland region. It's one of the most promising dive sites in the Haringvliet due to its location near the lock openings. What new species can be found their way to this location since the locks were partially opened in 2019? Herring and trout once lived here, but so far mainly perch, crabs, flatfish and gobies have been seen. Scavenge among the stones, look at the sandy bottom and visit the fish hotel. This artificial reef tube system was installed by Wageningen University to detect DNA material of new species.

Particulars

Park at Haringvlietweg close to the entry point. Now enter the water at the jetty next to the boat ramp. Prepare on the jetty and lower yourself into the water. You will land on a sandy bottom where you can stand. This slopes down to a belt of stones that extends from 1.5 to 5 meters deep.

Warnings

Visibility in Haringvlietweg is limited. Stones in front of entry point can be slippery. Lots of (fast) pleasure boats. Stay away from the boat ramp during the boating season. Place a clearly visible dive flag on the shore. Water sports enthusiasts are not yet used to divers in the Haringvliet. Do n't make free ascents when other water sportsmen are active. Don't jump off the jetty.
