MELISSA'S GARDEN
Indonesië
Melissa's Garden is known as one of the most beautiful coral gardens in the world. It's an absolute top spot in Raja Ampat, which is especially loved by underwater photographers. The nutrient-rich waters create a wonderful biodiversity of hard and soft corals, triggerfish and sometimes wobbegong sharks. Melissa's Garden was discovered by the Dutch diving pioneer and entrepreneur, Max Ammer. He named the coral garden after his daughter.
Particulars
Melissa's Garden can only be reached by boat. Most boats leave from Kri Island. You will reach the dive site in about 30 minutes.
Warnings
Dive at Melissa's Garden preferably with a guide. In strong currents, use a reef hook. Hook it to rocks. Good buoyancy required to avoid damaging coral. Triggerfish can be aggressive during nesting periods. Swim away horizontally, not vertically.
