Easy dive site
Sabalos is a relatively shallow dive site off the coast of Playa del Carmen. Divers make drift dive here, gliding past a number of reefs. Species you can encounter in Sabalos are moray eels, sharks, rays, barracudas and whales, depending on the season. Tarpons are also very common here. The site is named after this species in Spanish.

Sabalos is located off the coast of Playa del Carmen. You reach the dive site with a 10-minute boat ride from the beach.
Warnings
Pleasure boating. Use a surface buoy at Sabalos. Currents can surprise. Stay close to the bottom. Make sure not to lose the group.
