Tortugas Reef is is one of the better known and more accessible reefs near Play del Carmen, Mexico. The site is known for its turtles. The name 'Tortugas' literally means turtles. Apart from turtles, you will also come across papaya fish, hawksbill turtles, eagle rays, whitetip reef sharks, whale sharks and dolphins, depending on the season. Tortugas Reef has a beautiful colorful reef. The current is strong. Drift dives are mainly made here.

Tortugas is located off the coast of Playa del Carmen in Mexico. You can reach the dive site from ports and hotels in the area.

Warnings

Beware of strong currents at Tortugas Reef. Pleasure boating. Make use of a surface buoy.
