The Grüblsee in Austria, with its crystal-clear water, huge amount of fish and the highest diving center in Europe, is a special place for diving. At least in the summer. In winter, this lake serves a different purpose. Then it's a storage basin for water to make artificial snow. The water level then drops from 8 to 5 meters and the dive center is transformed into a ski lodge. Fancy a special dive in the Alps at 1160 meters altitude? Then this is the place to be. You're surrounded by hundreds of fish, mainly salmon, which may be fed. Furthermore, you come across all kinds of sculptures and works of art connected by lines. Paid diving.
Particulars
Register at the dive center after you've arrived at the Grüblsee. Pay for your day pass and parking ticket and you are ready to dive. After a short instruction and briefing you can enter the water via a jetty. Bring food from the dive center to feed the fish. This is a true spectacle. There are so many fish coming at you that they limit your visibility. Then follow the line route and dive through the cages back to the jetty.
Warnings
The Grüblsee is only open for diving from May to October. Please take note of the opening hours. Always sign up first. A limited number of divers are admitted per day. Paid diving. Night diving by prior arrangement. Water temperature: 14 to 19 degrees.
