RICHELIEU ROCK
Thailand
Richelieu Rock is one of the most beautiful dive sites in Asia. It's a large flooded rock area shaped as a horseshoe, with numerous rocks, rock points, pillars and small caves. The top of the rock lies underwater at high tide, but it's just visible at low tide. The site descends steeply on the north and west sides. On the south side, the descent is more gradual. What can you see at Richelieu Rock? Too much to mention. Richelieu Rock has a large biodiversity. You'll see lots of small marine life such as seahorses, angler fish, ghost whistle fish and glass fish, but octopus, barracudas and large groupers are also found here. If you're lucky you'll also spot a manta ray or a whale shark.
Particulars
Richelieu Rock is only accessible by boat. The area is isolated. Richelieu Rock lies about 10 kilometers east of the Surin Islands and 100 kilometers northeast of the Similan Islands.
Warnings
Richelieu Rock is sometimes exposed to strong currents, depending on where you are among the rocks.
