The Boeing B17 is a popular dive site featuring the wreck of an American B17 bomber. The wreck lies in front of the port of Corsica upright in the sand between 25 and 28 meters. The B17 is the most famous American bomber of the Second World War. Because of its stability, it was also called "The Flying Fortress. The B17 has a wingspan of 32 meters and a length of 22 meters. This particular aircraft came into combat with a squadron of German Messerschmitt 109 aircraft on Februari 14, 1944, after which it crashed into the sea off the north coast of Calvi. Only six of the ten crew members were rescued.

The Boeing B17 Bomber is located 200 meters off the port of Calvi. The wreck can be reached by boat or from the shore. The wreck is still in good condition. After your dive, a visit to Calvi is highly recommended. Calvi is a nice town on the northwest coast of Corsica with beautiful beaches and bays and about 5,400 inhabitants. Also beautiful in Calvi are the large medieval citadel, the cobblestone streets and the cozy yacht and ferry port. Calvi is the fourth largest and one of the most visited towns in Corsica.
