MESSERSCHMITT
Griekenland
Messerschmitt is one of the most famous dive sites in Crete. A dive on this German fighter plane from the Second World War is never dissapointing. The plane lies at depths between 23 and 29 meters off the coast. The Messerschmidt lies on its side and is almost completely intact. The tail, propeller and one of the wheels were broken off and lie next to the wreckage.
Particulars
The Messerschmitt lies upside down in the sand, with the tail section about 50 meters away. Here and there other wreckage and ammunition can be found. What caused the crash is unknown. Anyway, you can dive around the plane and take a look into the cockpit from the outside.
Warnings
There can be pleasure boats in the surrounding at Messerschmitt. Use a surface buoy if necessary. Sometimes hard current and limited visibility.
