Amphora Reef is an archaeological site of amphorae from historic times such as the Neolithic period. Amphorae are ancient jars that were once used in large numbers to transport and store products such as wine, oil and grain. They have a characteristic shape, with two handles at the top and tapered bottoms. During your dive you will probably also see grouper, moray eels, octopus or mackerel.

Particulars

Enter Amphora Reef from the boat. Descend via the anchor line and look for parts of the historical amphorae. You can find pieces of broken amphorae all over the bottom. The potsherds are scattered all over the bottom. You can find very small pieces but also larger pieces.

Warnings

There may be boat traffic at Amphora Reef. Use a surface buoy if necessary.
