Advice not to dive on wreck Le Serpent in Holland

Visibility inside the wreck is limited by sediment swirling up

The Dutch Forestry Commission advises divers not to dive any longer in the Le Serpent dive wreck in Lake Grevelingen. The reason being the death of two divers in May 2018. Visibility inside the wreck is limited by sediment swirling up, which can lead to confusing and dangerous situations in certain areas.

Diving Le Serpent in Holland

Additional measures may follow. The Dutch Forestry Commission will consult with Security autorities, Police, Ministry of Defence and the Dutch Underwater Federation, as well as other experts about the safety risks concerning Le Serpent. Until further notice the Forestry Commission advises divers not to dive on Le Serpent. Two more wreck dive sites are located in Lake Grevelingen, De Rat (12 m) and De Zeehond (10 m), the advice doesn't apply to these.
