SHA'AB ABU DABBAB
Egypte
Abu Dabab reefs are spread out and form a varied diving area. Especially at the northern and north-western reefs you can find spectacular fields of hard corals. The current is moderate and you will find all kinds of things here: Grottoes, caverns, a wreck, coral pinnacles, an abundance of reef fish, but also larger sea creatures such as barracudas and white tip reef sharks. Abu Dabab is also ideal for macro photography. The reefs in Abu Dabab are numbered: Sha'ab Abu Dabab 1 and 4 to 7 and Sha'ab Abu Dabab 2 and 3.
Particulars
People rarely dive at Sha'ab Abu Dabab 1 and 4 to 7 so there is much to explore. On the east side, you can make a drift dive and spot large species. The western side is more sheltered, you dive with limited current through shallow slopes, pinnacles and passages. At Sha'ab Abu Dabab 2 and 3 lies the wreck of a live aboard boat: The Heaven One. Here you start your dive towards a number of small pinnacles scattered between the two impressive reefs. Amidst all this you find anemones, napoleons, turtles and stingrays.
