Veteran's Park, located on beautiful Redondo Beach in California, is one of the most popular dive sites in Los Angeles County. It's an easy dive site in every way, with limited currents, good parking facilities and a huge biodiversity. Vet's Park is mainly an evening or night dive site. When the beach guests return home, the divers arrive. The site has one exceptional aspect. Between mid-December and the beginning of March the annual 'squid run' takes place at this very location, a phenomenon that attracts divers from all over the world. Veteran's Park consists of three zones: The Wall, The Canyon and The Salad Bowl.
Veteran's Park is easily accessible. The car park ends at a long staircase, leading to the beach. Enter the water and observe the algae and kelp plants of the Salad Bowl or seek the depths of the Canyon. Come for the squid? Then an experience awaits you. At first you'll notice the many egg bags. Then your attention shifts to the increasing number of squids until you can hardly see anything else. Eventually they disappear as fast as they came.
Veteran's Park has enough parking space. Only paid parking. Bring plenty of coins. Violators will be fined. Dive at night to spot marine life. Dive site can be crowded due to scuba diving training. Cautiously enter the water at high surf and high waves fr
