WHITE STAR SHIPWRECK

Cyprus

/ 1 / 1

White Star Shipwreck is a dive site off the southwest coast of the island of Cyprus with the wreck of a Russian ship. The White Star was built in 1954. The ship was part of the Russian commercial fishing fleet in the Black Sea and originally bore the name Ivana Ivanova. It was later sold to a Cypriot company that renamed it White Star. It was decommissioned in 2005, after which it lay in the port of Paphs until February 2006. The White Star went down in 2007 when it was towed to Limassol for scrapping. Its spacious cargo holds now provide an ideal hiding place for groupers, sea bream and other marine animals.
