El Hongo means mushroom. The name refers to a rock formation that looks exactly like a mushroom. It is one of the most striking objects in the underwater world of El Hongo. El Hongo is also known for a long steep wall that runs from 20 to 40 meters. The wall attracts a lot of fish. You can see everything from small schools of fish to barracudas, trumpet fish, and perch.
Particulars
Dive from the beach or by boat with various diving schools in Puerto del Carmen. Park around hotel Farioners if you dive from the shore. Boats depart from the old harbor and reach the dive site in ten minutes.
Warnings
El Hongo is also suitable for deep dives up to 50 meters and more. Only advanced divers. Current dependent on tide.
