SLANGENBAAI
Curaçao
Slangenbaai (Snake Bay) is best known for its beautiful coral spawning. This spectacle, in which millions of eggs and sperm cells are deposited into the water, takes place two or three times a year, after a full moon. Many divers visit Snake Bay in the months of September and October to observe this special phenomenon.
Particulars
Enter the water at Snake Bay from the beach. Until the drop-off, which starts at a depth of 10 meters, you will mainly dive over a gradually sloping sandy bottom. As soon as you have reached the wall, dive in an easterly (left) or westerly direction. The wall is beautifully overgrown and consists of a mixture of different types of corals.
Warnings
Snake Bay is a simple dive site for all levels. However, in strong winds there may be some current and waves. Diving with a surface buoy is mandatory on Curaçao.
