HEDEL
Nederland, Gelderland
Hedel is an interesting dive spot in Gelderland. Dive in southeasterly direction from the entry spot, and then back again. Biodiversity is high. You can see Chinese mitten crabs, eels, crayfish and river bullheads. Interesting places to spot fish are the clay walls and the southbank, where tree branches are hanging into the water.
Particulars
Enter the water from the southern shore. Biodiversity is great in Hedel, due to the connection with the river (De Maas). Follow the large colonies of Chinese mitten crabs and watch how they make themselves invisible by disappearing into the ground.
Warnings
Poor visibility at high water levels in de Maas. Good buoyancy control is needed, the soil is quite soft.
