The Looe Key Reef is one of the most important snorkel and dive sites in Florida. Here you'll find the scarce remains of the HMS Looe. The ship ran aground in 1744. The captain ordered to set the ship to fire to keep it out of the hands of the enemy, after which it exploded. The reef is beautiful and full of colorful fish and corals. The Looe Key Reef attracts divers from all over the world.

HMS Loee is an SPA area. Removing objects from this area is strictly forbidden. The SPA (Sanctuary Preservation Area) is part of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
