Bij afdalen op diepte aangekomen zagen we een prachtige pijlstaartrog. Deze even gevolgd en bracht ons naar een 2de exemplaar. Wauw!

Alleen op de 'parking', blijft de moeite om de afstand af te leggen. Veel zeenaalden en anemonen. Ook een pitvis en baby-sepia's gespot

De dam is afgesloten voor duikers en wandelaars wegens broedplaats voor beschermde vogelsoort , duiken dus even niet toegestaan

Katshoek is a dive site with stone formations that rise above the water like a reef top. This is only visible from the surface at low tide. The stones are remnants of a beautifully overgrown, old dike. Katshoek resembles a reef area like no other dive site in Zeeland, with an inner reef, a reef top and an outer reef. A dive in this inner reef is special because of the limited current. Katshoek has an extremely rich biodiversity. The site is home to many species such as carnations, anemones, lobsters, crabs, pipefish, shrimps and much more. Katshoek is also a dive site with ocassionaly big marine life, such as sharks and rays.
Particulars
Park at Katshoek in front of the barrier. Then walk up to the bend in the pier, where the stones are lined with concrete. You now have to cross a gully to reach the old dyke (the reef). Then enter the water.
Warnings
Katshoek has a long walking distance. Consider a boat dive. Short tide and unexpected currents. Strong currents on the outside of the breakwater. Don't dive in north to northeast winds stronger than wind force 4 because of excessive current. Irregular bottom profile. Navigate by your compass. Beware of car break-in! Katshoek is a professional fishing ground. Don't dive when fishing. Don't touch fishing gear.
