TUNNEL OF DOOM
Curaçao
The Tunnel of Doom is a challenging dive site that is only suitable for experienced divers, provided they are accompanied by a guide. Diving along this rocky coast is only possible under calm weather conditions. The tunnel has a length of 25 meters and ends up in the sea. The reef itself runs from 10 to 25 meters, after which it turns into a sandy bottom.
Particulars
Enter the Tunnel of Doom from the shore. The tunnel is located in a cave that leads to the sea. Enter the tunnel one by one and watch out for rocks. Skipping the tunnel and swimming from the shore to the reef is not really an option. In the tunnel you'll find glass fish and here and there a tarpon or nurse shark. The exit lies at a depth of 5 meters, with the reef in front of you. Leave a marker to find the tunnel back, especially if an exit via Boca Labadera is not an option. The rocky coast is too high to leave the water elsewhere.
Warnings
Diving at the Tunnel of Doom is only possible with sufficient experience and always with a local guide. Strong currents along the rocky coast. Use a spare diver and a diving lamp (also during the day). Mark the entrance to the tunnel to find it back. Chec
