Blokkendam is a shallow dive site located at the outside of a curved dam in the North Sea in Zeeland, The Netherlands. Dive along the basalt blocks of the dam in search of marine life. Blokkendam is home to species such as butterfish, crabs and lobsters, but het site is particularly famous for its beautiful sea dahlias. You'll spot dozens of them during your dive. They grow mostly in the shallow water along the dam. Diving at Blokkendam is only possible in calm weather conditions and preferably with an offshore easterly wind.
Particulars
The Blokkendam is located in the North Sea off Grevelingen. Park at the Brouwersdam and enter the water from the beach north of the crooked pier. Wade the first stretch, then swim out and dive a few meters away from the blocks to the end of the dam and back again.
Warnings
Dive site Blokkendam is officially a harbor. Beware of pleasure boats. Never dive on the inside of the dam and dive close to the dam. Make use of a deco buoy. Beware of anglers. Only dive in calm weather conditions. Don't dive in westerly winds and high w
