Bommenede Werkhaven West is shallow at the entry point. Therefore it's also a good snorkeling location. Deeper water can olny be reached by a 15 minute swim. Marine life thrives here. The bottom is filled with oyster beds, overgrown with orange, colony forming sea squirt. Crabs, lobsters and shrimps can mostly be found between the stones of the dams. Bommenede Polder is an excellent alternative for the nearby and often crowded, Nieuwe Kerkweg Den Osse.
