MAKO'S MOUNTAIN 1
Curaçao
There is relatively little diving at Mako's Mountain 1. A strong coastal wind causes high waves, which makes it difficult to enter the water. Visibility is a bit less than at most other dive sites. This however does attract large species such as barracudas, rays, turtles and tarpons. The dive site is named after a mako shark that would have been seen here in the past.
Particulars
Mako's Mountain is a hard-to-reach dive site. Cross the entrance to Santa Martha Bay from the parking lot. Then walk to the rock with the sign 'Mako's Mountain' to enter the water. Do you want to save yourself all that trouble? Then make a boat dive. At Mako's Mountain you can expect an excellent condition of the coral.
Warnings
Enter the water of Mako's Moutain is a bit difficult due to the high waves that pound the coastline. It requires some experience, just as diving here itself. Beware of sea urchins when entering and leaving the water.
