VEERSE DAM 86
Nederland, Zeeland
Veerse Dam, located at the Veerse Gatdam in Vrouwenpolder, is a nice change from the specific way of diving in the Eastern Scheldt Estuary. There is no dike that needs to be crossed, there is no current, and the entry point lies right in front of the spacious parking lot. At 100 meters from the trailer ramp, where the water can be entered, lies a densely vegetated dive platform at 7.5 meters. A line, starting at 5 meters, will take you straight to the platform. The Veerse Gatdam is the dam that closed the Veerse Gat on April 27, 1961. This created Lake Veerse Meer. The dam is 2, 8 kilometers long and runs from Walcheren to Noord-Beveland.
Particulars
Dive site Veerse Dam can be entered via a trailer ramp. Follow the rope to the overgrown practice platform. It's located at the level of a drainage pipe. Veerse Dam lies close to a mussel field. Small creatures and large numbers of engorged starfish can be found between the mussels.
