VLIETEPOLDER PEILHUISJE 51
Nederland, Zeeland
Vlietepolder (Peilhuisje) is a quiet dive site with a high degree of difficulty and a limited visibility. Currents are very strong and there's a short reversal, but the biodiversity is enormous. Dead man's fingers, nudibranches, red anemones and other rare species are common here. Avoid strong currents by limiting your dive time to 45 minutes. Vlietepolder is named after the village of Vliete, which flooded in the 15th century.
Particulars
Enter Vlietepolder Peilhuisje water at the end of the pier and swim towards the buoy. At a depth of 25 meters you will come across boulders and large fields of tubeworms. Turn back over the east side and follow these blocks until you reach the pier once again. The large biodiversity at Vlietepolder is caused by its location near the Oosterscheldekering. Sometimes porpoises are seen here form shore.
Warnings
Be careful at Vlietepolder Peilhuisje. The pier is very slippery. Boating channel, don’t make free ascents. Be aware of fishing gear.
