ELPIDA SHIPWRECK
Cyprus
The MV Elpida offers an ideal introduction to wreck diving with long bottom times. The cargo containers, engine room, bridge and various decks are fully accessible to divers. Bring a dive light to explore every nook and cranny of the Elpida. The first thing you see when you descend are the masts at 10 meters, followed by the main deck at 20 meters. Species in and around the wreck are cardinalfish, amberjacks, pufferfish and parrotfish. The MV Elpida was originally built in Germany as a cargo ship and deliberately sunk as an artificial reef.
Particulars
The MV Elpida is located in the MPA Nature Reserve in Lakarna Bay. You can reach the wreck in about 10 minutes by boat.
Warnings
Only wreck divers can enter the MV Elpida. Bring a dive light and make sure you are well prepared.
