Challenging dive site

The SAS Transvaal is the northernmost of the five wrecks in Smitswinkel Bay. The battered wreck lies on a flat sandy bottom with the bow facing northeast. The SAS Transvaal was sunk in Smitswinkel Bay on August 3, 1978 to form an artificial reef with a number of other wrecks. A permit is mandatory to dive on the wreck. The best time to dive is the winter period.
