BOKA WASHIKEMBA
Bonaire
Boka Washikemba is a dive site with a beautiful reef and plenty of life. It is also a dive site with near the shore lots of rocks formations, tunnels and swim throughs. You will be accompanied by snappers and queen triggers that feel more than at home between the rocks. The ceilings of the rocks are covered with colorful sponges and in the corners and holes there are young fish, shrimps, moray eels and crayfish. Between 8 and 18 meters, the bottom is covered with macro algae and the gradually sloping reef lies between 18 and 35 meters.
Particulars
Enter the water by making a giant leap at the end of the bay of Boka Washikemba. The reef lies at some distance form the shore, just like at Boka Onima. There is a big difference whether you dive to the left or right. To the right (southern direction) you hardly encounter any coral and there are no rock formations in the shallow part along the side. And by the way, If you're lucky you can even spot reef sharks and nurse sharks. After your dive you leave the water on a rocky beach in the bay.
Warnings
Always dive with a local guide. Diving is only possible under calm weather conditions. A full wetsuit and good booties are recommended for this dive. Beware of possible rip current while leaving the water.
