ANEMONENVELD 69
Nederland, Zeeland
Anemonenveld, also called Wemeldinge West, is a nice dive site with a basalt stone wall that's beautifully overgrown with Japanese oysters, sponges and brick anemones. Look among the oysters and discover which marine inhabitants have sought shelter here. Anemonenveld is also one of the dive sites in the Eastern Scheldt where you can see cuttlefish in spring. The wall ends at a depth of 30 meters, where it turns into a bare sandy bottom. Most marine life is found up to a depth of 20 meters. The dive site is named after the wall, which is colored yellow and orange by an overgrowth of brick anemones. Visibility is better at high than at low tide.
Particulars
Anemonenveld is accessible from the shore. Enter the water at dike post 1593. This is easier at high tide than at low tide. You can then exit via the stairs at dive site Galjoen Zonder Poen.
Warnings
The entry point at Anemonenveld can be slippery. Strong current. Beware of anglers and abandoned fishing lines. Bring your dive knife.
