BLINDE DAM 27
Nederland, Zeeland
Diving at Blinde Dam is only possible at low tide when the dam is visible at the surface. Dive around the head of the pier and on the east side of the dam along the basalt blocks. They are overgrown with oysters and inhabeted by crabs, lobsters, pipefish and other species. Blinde Dam is also home to large sea bass. There is relatively little diving at the Blind Dam because of the walk to the entry point. Nevertheless, it's a beautiful dive site with a lot to offer.
Particulars
Blind Dam is a shore dive but a boat dive is recommended given the long walk from the parking lot. Prepare your gear on the pier and enter the water on the left (east) side of the breakwater. There are fewer basalt blocks here than at the head or west side.
Warnings
Don't dive in Blinde Dam with southeast to southwesterly winds, stronger than wind force 4. Look out for shallow rip currents which flow opposite to the currents at depth. Take a rope.
