WAMBACHSEE
Duitsland, Nordrhein-Westfalen
The Wambachsee in the German city of Duisburg is a relatively shallow dive site with limited visibility and some good facilities. It's one of six sand excavations belonging to the recreational area, Sechs-Seen-Platte. The Wambachsee has a defined diving area and there is a special entry point for divers. The site is managed by Tauchsportverband Nordrhein-Westfalen e.V. and is primarily used as a training location. The Wambachsee is home to some large pike and perch and there are several wrecks to be found.
Particulars
The Wambachsee is located in the south of Duisburg. Enter the water via the stairs located at the concrete quay after you have parked your car at the parking lot nearby. There is a bench at the waters edge that can be used for preparing a dive. The dive area, which is marked with a number of buoys, is right in front of you. Don't expect too much from the Wambachsee. Submerge without expectations in search of the wrecks and marine life.
Warnings
Commercial diving schools are only allowed to dive in the Wambachsee with permission from the City of Duisburg. Free access for private divers. Beware of pleasure boats.
