Westenwind is an alternative for the top locations in Scharendijke. At least, if you don't mind a shallow dive. It's not a dive site for everyone. Large parts of the site are no deeper than 2 meters, but therefore very clear and colorful. Westenwind is home to crabs and all kinds of small marine life. It's actually a very nice snorkel location, which is also suitable for experienced underwater photographers. No groups and no inexperienced divers. Watch out for surfers!
Particulars
Entering the water at Westenwind is very easy. Walk from the parking lot via the stairs to the beach and enter the water. Put your fins on at the passage before you reach deeper water and swim northwards towards the buoy that marks the channel. The channel lies at a depth of 12 meters. This is where you turn to the east to finish your dive and get back to shore.
Warnings
Don't dive any deeper than about 12 meters to stay out of the fairway at Westenwind. No groups. No inexperienced divers who cannot trim well. Watch out for surfers!
