Dishoekstrand is a challenging dive site with parts of the Junker 88A wreck. A German bomber, which crashed into the sea on May 15, 1940 after an attack on a pilot boat. Large parts of the wreck were salvaged after the war. Only the cockpit and parts of the wings are still present. They may lie hidden beneath the sand during your dive. Marine life at Dishoekstrand hides under the overhanging peat blocks at 7 meters depth and under the sand.
Particulars
Simly enter the water from the beach. It's the only thing which is easy at Dishoekstrand. Visibility is limited, the current is strong and the fairway is close to the shore. To reach the beach you'll have to climb the dunes and then walk about 450 meters.
Warnings
Limit your dive time to avoid strong currents. Compensate your course to keep the right direction. Stay out of the fairway and don't be alarmed by the sound of passing ships.
