Burghsluis Oostbout is a dive site with for Lake Oosterschelde unique marine life. So close to open sea you'll encounter a lot of North Sea life. However, Burghsluis unique location also ensures strong currents and limited visibility. To follow the most beautiful diving route, dive from the stairs in southwestern direction to the point of the pier. Dive at low tide and always carry a strong dive lamp. Experience is required. Burghsluis Oostbout is a dive site with quick tidal changes and strong currents.
Particulars
Park your car at the harbor of Burghsluis and walk to the entry point. There is a stair for divers to get into the water. Close to shore there are boulders with hidden life. More at depth you'll encounter a wall of bricks and oyster banks filled with life, which ends in a sandy bottom. In the harbor master's office you can make use of a toilet and shower. End your visit to Burghsluis with a drink at restaurant 't Oliegeultje.
Warnings
Beware of fishing gear at this dive spot! Boating channel, don't make free ascents. Don't dive at Burghsluis with southern winds, stronger than wind force 4. Don' t dive in or near the harbor. Quick tidal changes with strong currents.
