FLAUWERS-WEST 39
Nederland, Zeeland
Flauwers-West is a diverse dive site with a stone ramp, an overgrown wreck and a well that is 35 meters deep. Flatfish, shrimp, hermit crabs, sea squirts and brittle stars dominate this underwater world. The nearby restaurant, De Heerenkeet, has a stunning view over the Eastern Scheldt Estuary.
Particulars
Flauwers-West can be entered from the shore but a boat dive is more recommendable. Swim from the western headland in southern direction. The site is at its best at a depth of 15 meters. Then continue in western direction to return halfway through your dive. Look for brick anemones and small marine life on the basalt blocks during your safety stop in the shallows.
Warnings
The walk to the entry point is long at Flauwers-West. A boat dive is more recommendable. Be careful, entry point may be slippery at low tide.
