The Haarsteegse Wiel, also known as de Spookplas (Ghost Lake) is created by dike breaches in 1610 and 1740. This explains the primeval forest, the old dike remains and the graveyard underwater. Some say the graveyard is just a rumor, however The Haarsteegse Wiel is a mysterious dive site! The primeval forest is located on the east side of the water.
The entry point lies quite high, kneel down on one knee and let yourself down into the water slowly. Now make your way to the ancient flooded forest. It consists of old oak trees. Dive from the tree tops, between the branches to the tree trunks below.
Be aware of fishermen, fishing lines and boats.
